WARR race weekend in Dubai

Our friend Neil arrived in Abu Dhabi on October 18th. He decided to come back to the UAE to take part in the World Airline Road Race (WARR). I met him at the airport for a quick coffee before he made his way to Dubai where he would be spending the next week. Dan and I drove up after work on Thursday, October 23rd and met Neil at the WARR t-shirt party where we also caught up with the WestJet team. All of us were up very early the next morning to be ready for the 7:00am 10km run which Neil and I were running in along Al Mamzar Beach Park.

After the race, we went back to the hotel, got freshened up and made our way over to Palm Island to check out the Atlantis Aquaventure park. The boys went on a few rides and then Dan convinced us to go on a team tube ride called the Zoomerango. It was the craziest tube ride Neil and I had ever been on! We toned it down after that with a trip down the lazy river. Before we knew it, it was time to get ready for the banquet dinner that was also being held at the Atlantis hotel that evening.

The next morning Dan and I visited the Dubai Museum which was conveniently located right across from the Arabian Courtyard Hotel where we were staying. It was a good museum and we were surprised by how busy it was. We met up with Neil afterwards and were on our way to the 7-star Burj Al Arab hotel where we had a 1:00pm reservation for Sky Tea at the Skyview Bar. As you may have guessed by the name, Skyview Bar has a great view of Dubai as well as the Palm and World Islands. We enjoyed every single course over a 2 hour High Tea experience and left feeling very satisfied. It was a great way to end our weekend in Dubai with Neil. We drove back to Abu Dhabi and Neil went back to his hotel to prepare for his next adventure in India.

Sounds like a great (and warm) way to spend a weekend. Would love to do the high tea.
