Short trip to Sudan

During the 2nd week in January, I travelled to Khartoum, Sudan for a 2 night work trip. The Canadian travel advisories weren’t too kind but I was assured by my colleagues it was safe. Even though it was a short trip, I still got to take in a couple of sights including the Burj Al-Fateh Hotel (also known as Gaddafi’s hotel since it was funded by Libya). It is located at the meeting point of the Blue and White Niles. I also got to try some local Sudanese food and juice including Karkade which is made from hibiscus. It was a quick visit but interesting to be able to see this part of Africa.

About rrettenmier

In September 2010, Dan and I received working visas for the United Kingdom. We sold our condo, quit our jobs and packed our bags to move to London. This blog (though a few months late) is designed to update our friends and family back home about where we are and what we are up to.
